Canyoning In Samegrelo

Samegrelo is mostly known for its historical sites, caves, mineral springs, or coastal marshes. As most of the province is covered by flatlands, it´s not considered to be a premium trekking destination. This is quite surprising since Egrisi mountains lying in its northern parts treasure some of the most scenic lakes in Georgia. Egrisi mountains are not as high as massifs further to the north, but are more diverse – one can find here many rocky peaks, glacial lakes, gorges, and waterfalls.

The “Txopra Canyon” is a great one-day adventure tour from the Samegrelo region,  River Txopra valley Village Salkhino, 70 km from Kutaisi. The tour has a short uphill walk to get into River Txopra valley, Length off valley – 650 m. After reaching the starting Start point tourists will get a short training of rappelling and canyoning basic knowledge under the careful eye of English speaking instructors. During 5 hours of canyon exploration, we will cover 8 waterfalls, 8 rappelling points highest of 55m.
